Julian Sutherland-Beatson

The main theme of Julian’s current work is the marking and celebration of specific times and places.

He interprets the changing mood and seasons reflected in the countryside, coastline and urban areas that he inhabits and seeks to create work that is evocative and emotive.

His work reflects the prevailing seasonal conditions and is also affected by his ‘mood’ and need for say, sun, cold, or just something different. These personal needs inform the work to a large extent and the paintings are a record of a specific point in his own personal ‘timeline’.

Julian completed his 6th season at Glyndebourne Opera House in 2016, creating a painting each day throughout the summer. He also had two paintings exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer exhibition.
